Baked Fresh Pears – Recipe #1

Arrange peeled fresh pear halves in buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. Add only enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) until tender. Chill. Serve plain, with milk, cream or custard sauce with crumbled macaroons.

Baked Fresh Pears – Recipe #2 (with raisins)

Arrange a number of pears in a baking pan. Make a syrup of one cup of water, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and juice of 1/2 lemon. Pour this syrup over pears; bake in moderate oven until tender (approximately 45 minutes). Bast several times with syrup. Cook separately raisins, nuts and cinnamon with water and brown sugar. Serve over pears, topped with whipped cream.
