Oatmeal Tomato Soup

Recipe from the Great Depression

1 pint canned Tomatoes
1 cup Oatmeal
1 large Onion
1 Bay Leaf
1 teaspoon Salt
1 or 2 tablespoons Honey
2 cups Water
2 tablespoons Peanut Butter

Boil together in a covered Kettle for one hour. Strain and serve hot. If desired creamed, add 1/2 teaspoonful of baking soda and two cupfuls of hot milk.

This makes a very good supper dish served with crackers or bread cubes toasted.
