Cornstarch is a standard thickening agent used in cooking.

Directions for use:
To thicken hot liquids, mix cornstarch with a little cold liquid until smooth before adding to hot liquids. May also be stirred into sugar before adding to recipe. When recipe calls for flour to thicken soup and stews, use half as much cornstarch as flour.
