A whole pea that is part of the legume family that has been husked and is pale green in color. They are best used for sprouting but may be used in recipes after softened. Whole green peas were traditionally cooked to a puree and then mashed to make a porridge. When cooked they break down and melt into the liquid they are cooked in. They make an excellent choice for thick and hearty soups. They are great for sprouting which increases its sweetness, vitamins and enzymes. A great addition to your long-term food storage.

Shelf Life:
Should be stored in cool dark place – optimum condition is 60 degrees or less – for longer storage. Product should store for 25+ years if stored properly.

Rinse. For overnight soaking, cover each cup of peas with 3 cups water and let stand overnight or 12 hours. Rinse and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer about 1 hour. May use seasoned stock made from chicken, beef, ham or other meat. Chopped onions and other vegetables make a nice addition.
