Description
Brown rice has a rich nutty flavor and can be used in any recipe that calls for white rice.
Brown rice is also a great side dish by itself. It compliments any meat and vegetable you have on your plate. Brown rice is a great gluten free product that can be ground into flour and used. Brown rice is rich in vitamins and minerals that are not present in white rice.
Shelf Life:
Because only the outside hull is removed, brown rice does not store as long when compared to long grain white rice. Should be stored in cool dark place- optimum condition is 60 degrees or less- for longer storage. Storing properly this product may store 6 months to 1 year. The natural oils may cause brown rice to go rancid.
Directions for Use:
Add 1 cup rice to 2 1/2 cups cold water. May add 1 tbsp. margarine or butter and 1 tsp. salt. Cover with lid and bring to a full boil. Lower heat and cook 45-55 minutes, keeping lid on except to stir several times. Fluff with fork before serving.
